Should the term regenerative agriculture be changed?

The position of the Institute on this is clear. We support the term ecological agriculture since we are talking about ecosystems as its foundation stone. A central plank of the term ecosystems is that of holism (rather than reductionism which is its opposite). It is the reductionist thinkers who try to undermine the term regenerative agriculture. They are the green-washers who probably feel threatened by the term. In aligning with the term ecological we also see it as an approach to regenerative agriculture. Ecological processes have to be the driving force of regenerative agriculture and, if the term ever gets overused and ‘deadened,’ then the fall-back position is the term ecological agriculture.
